If a visual artist is so famous that everyone knows her name, then it no longer matters what is painted on one of her paintings - the important thing is that it is made by her. The value is then measured less by the single work or its content than by its authorship. In this sense, the Namedropping series takes a shortcut.
Wenn ein/e bildende/r Künstler/in so berühmt ist, dass jede/r ihren/seinen Namen kennt, dann spielt es keine wichtige Rolle mehr, was auf einem ihrer/seiner Bilder drauf ist – Hauptsache, es ist von ihr/ihm. Der Wert bemisst sich dann weniger nach dem einzelnen Werk bzw. dessen Inhalt, sondern nach dessen Urheberschaft. Die Namedropping Serie vollzieht in diesem Sinne eine Abkürzung.
